COLUMBUS, Ohio – July 7, 2008 – The State Auto Insurance Companies have expanded their Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) program to provide greater peace of mind to small and mid-size business owners.
Employment practices liability is a growing concern for nearly all businesses. Most liability policies, however, do not cover the types of losses that businesses may suffer under employment law, including wrongful termination, sexual harassment and discrimination. State Auto now offers two different policies for this all-important management liability exposure.
- The EPLI Supplement is designed for small businesses with up to 25 employees. Easily attached to an existing commercial insurance package, the EPLI Supplement provides liability limits of $100,000 per claim and a $100,000 aggregate, with a deductible of $2,500 per claim. This is true liability insurance, provided on a “claims made and reported” basis. (The EPLI Supplement can be added to most existing State Auto commercial package policies. Due to state regulation, the EPLI Supplement is not available in Arkansas.)
- The EPLI Policy is a “stand-alone” policy designed for businesses with up to 250 employees. It offers a choice of limits up to $1,000,000 per claim/$1,000,000 aggregate, with a choice of deductibles from $5,000 to $25,000. A new, broader coverage form, along with new pricing methodology and lower premiums, results in a very competitive program.
In addition to protecting against an employment practices claim, State Auto also provides insureds under both the EPLI Policy and the EPLI Supplement free access to an employment practices risk management hotline. The hotline gives policyholders immediate, reliable advice from employment practice law experts to help prevent employment situations from becoming bigger problems.
