COLUMBUS, Ohio -- March 16, 2004 -- The boards of directors of State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company (Mutual) and State Auto Property & Casualty Insurance Company (P&C) have named Steven E. English an assistant vice president of the companies.
English is State Auto's director of financial planning. He was chief financial officer and treasurer for the Meridian Insurance Group (Meridian) at the time Meridian was acquired by State Auto in June, 2001. Prior to joining Meridian in August 2000, English was vice president of planning with Conseco Corporation. He began his financial services career with Coopers & Lybrand in 1982, attaining the position of audit manager. He is a C.P.A., a Fellow of the Life Management Institute and a member of the finance committee of the Indiana Fair Plan. English was graduated from Indiana State University with a B.S. in accounting.
The State Auto Insurance Companies are engaged primarily in writing both personal and commercial lines of insurance.
