COLUMBUS, Ohio – November 3, 2006 – The Boards of Directors of State Auto Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:STFC) and State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company (Mutual) today named Larry Williams a vice president of all companies in the State Auto group. Williams was named a vice president of Meridian Security, a member of the State Auto group, in 2004.
Williams is senior manager in the team that founded the State Auto Middle Market (SAMMI) division. Since its inception in 2004, SAMMI has generated $45.2 million in direct written premium and opened offices in Peoria (Phoenix), Ariz. and Naperville (Chicago), Ill. Williams expects SAMMI to expand into other major markets in 2007.
